Custom Bouquet
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does my bouquet have to be a bridal bouquet?
A: Absolutely not! Any special bouquet that you loved can be captured on canvas. Think about how wonderful it would be to always have a keepsake from your first Mother's Day, your college graduation, a milestone anniversary or blooms from your garden. The sky is the limit!
Q: What medium is used to create my painting?
A: I use acrylic paint on your choice of stretched canvas or wood panel board.
Q: How long does each painting take to create?
A: Each painting is unique and takes anywhere from 6-14+ hours to complete. I work in many layers that need time to dry and generally have multiple paintings in progress at one time. For these reasons, I estimate a turnaround time of 1-2 weeks.
Q: How do I know I will LOVE my painting?
A: There are examples of my work and style on the Custom Bouquet page. This should give you an idea what my style is like and if it would match what you had in mind. I try to capture the beauty of your bouquet while still maintaining my personal style. I don't paint in a hyper-realistic style but instead like to use loose, vibrant brushstrokes with a bit of whimsy.
Before I even begin your painting, I carefully review your order form and reference photos you provide. We will collaborate to make sure I have a good understanding of your vision. I will send photos of your painting in progress and will always get your final approval prior to sending/delivering your painting to you. Acrylic is easy to paint over so I am happy to make changes to ensure that you receive a work of art that you truly love!
Q: What final touches are added to my painting?
A: I paint the edges of the canvas with the same background color or solid (usually dark) color. If you choose to have your artwork professionally framed I can leave the edges white. There is a space at the bottom of the order form to list any specific requests you have for finishing the piece. Otherwise, I use my best judgment to pick a color that best suits the piece.
Q: What do I do if I need my painting by a certain date?
A: Please specify the date that you absolutely MUST have the painting by on your order form. I will do everything I can to make sure you have your piece in your hands by that specific date.
Q: Why am I asked to make a non-refundable deposit of 50%?
A: The deposit allows me to purchase the materials needed for your painting while also making sure I am covered for the time I have put into painting.
Q: How do I make my deposit and/or make a final payment?
A: Once your order is received, I will send you an invoice for your non-refundable deposit via Square which can be paid securely online. Once you are happy with the final product, I will send you another invoice with your remaining balance and shipping fees included. Once payment is received for your final invoice, your painting will be shipped/delivered.
If you are redeeming a gift certificate (see below for details), please note that in your order form. I will adjust your invoice as needed to reflect the certificate value.
Q: How is my painting shipped? Is delivery an option?
A: I always take great care when preparing pieces for shipment. Rest assured your piece will be carefully packaged and shipped with a tracking number and insurance via the shipping carrier.
If you live within a one hour radius of the Twin Cities, I would be happy to deliver your painting to you. Pick-up from my studio is also an option.
Q: What if the painting is a gift?
A: If the painting is a gift, I would be happy to include a card to the recipient with a message from you. I am also able to to add neutral, timeless wrapping to the painting prior to packaging. If you would like to ship the painting directly to the recipient, please let me know in advance otherwise I will ship to the address on the order form.
Q: Do you offer gift certificates?
A: Yes! If you would like to purchase a gift certificate good in my Etsy shop or for a custom order, please contact me via email: minnemaker@gmail.com
Q: What is your refund policy on custom commissions?
A: I take many steps to ensure that I understand your vision and that you are happy with the progress of your painting. Regular progress updates and a final approval of the piece prior to shipping are to ensure you love what I have created for you. For this reason, I am unable to issue a refund for custom orders. If your painting was damaged during shipping, please contact me immediately and send photos of the damage so that I can file an insurance claim.
Q: I have a different question or special request. What should I do?
A: I would love to answer your questions or work with you on a special request. Send me an email and we'll chat!
Q: Do you partner with other vendors?
A: Heck yes! I love to partner with photographers, florists, wedding venues, and other vendors on gifts and special offers for clients. If you are a vendor or retailer, feel free to reach out to me through email.
